Two-day shipping is a solution for a problem that probably doesn’t exist

The bad news is that the vast majority of retailers can’t match Amazon’s shipping speed, but the good news is that many shoppers don’t care, according to Retail Brew.


When asked how quickly they expect online orders to arrive, shoppers’ most popular response, at 36%, was three to four days, followed by two days (30%), one day (18%), and the same day (9%), according to a CI&Tsurvey. Asked the most likely reason that they’d shop online, 14% of consumers said it’s the fastest way to get what they need, with the most popular being best prices (37%). And, in another Nosto survey, more than half of respondents strongly or somewhat agreed with the statement that they wouldn’t mind slower delivery times if it meant reducing carbon emissions.


According to Nick Green, Co-founder and CEO @ Thrive Market, "A lot of people are kind of throwing up their hands and saying, ‘You know, I don’t want to be contributing to global warming or to climate change in a way that I now recognize I am by focusing just on getting things faster.”
